1. Define your goals

Setting your goals is the first step to a successful fitness journey. Do you want to lose weight or gain more muscle? This is the first question you need to ask yourself. It will help you define what type of exercise routine to follow. If you want to lose weight, it may be beneficial to start with cardio exercises like running or cycling which will burn fat and create a calorie deficit in order to lose weight. However, if you want to gain muscle, then heavy weightlifting (such as deadlifts) combined with strength-building moves such as squats are recommended.
